the breakfast was delicious and offered a good variety of options to choose from. the hotel was located in a great spot near many popular tourist attractions, making it easy to explore the city.
The hotel could use some updates and maintenance. the rooms were a bit run down and could use some attention, especially when it came to cleanliness.

Friendly staff. Building looked very run down but inside was nicely decorated - don't let the outside put you off!! Nice pub adjoining hotel and great breakfast in the morning.
No hairdryer in room but that wasn't anything major to complain about!

The room was large and airy and the bed comfortable
The receptionist took 15 min to appear and there was no notice that he had gone

The stay was lovely! The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with great beds and fast wifi. The breakfast was the best we had in Scotland.
The decor in the bathroom was a bit tired, with mold and peeling wallpaper. The curtains didn't close properly, letting in cold drafts.

Beautiful building in a town location. And very easy to find with SatNav. Easy to walk to town for dinner and had a bar (which we didn't try) as well. Staff were very helpful in the morning when I had locked myself out of my room and my friend was fast asleep! Great shower and nice towels. Good breakfast too.
I'm just being picky now, so not really complaints, but I didn't like the supplied toiletries in the bathroom, and the room had a slightly strange smell when we came in.

The hotel's location was ideal for a short stay, just a 5, minute walk from the town centre. It was also mentioned that the hotel had a bar on site, which was convenient for meeting up with friends and family. One reviewer even mentioned that the room was nicer than expected for a 2, star hotel, and that it was clean and well, appointed.
One negative aspect mentioned by a reviewer was that the water pressure in the shower was terrible, more like a dribble than a trickle.

The hotel has a lot of rustric charm. The landlady was very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was freshly cooked and a variety of items to choose from - very comfortable.
We were allocated room 1 - which was very spacious and very clean but needed a little tlc - the ceiling was peeling as there appeared to have been a water leak in the room above which had seeped through so a coat of paint is all it needs to improve the room & the furniture is old and could do with modernising.

Staff went out of their way to help with an early departure. Very happy with this stay.
Room didn't seem to have any ventilation (warm night).

Well positioned in the town
Very sparse room, with plumbing in the rooms cupboard making a running noise whenever other guests used showers etc. Only one bedside table and light. Only one set of towels for two people.

Breakfast was good room was clean,
Limited food served in the attached pub, Not a food pub that you would find attached to the weel known budget hotels just a street corner pub that serves some food, No welcome from the staff, just heres your key. Also not specific to this hotel but limited dining elsewhere in Wick so eat before you get here.

Very spacious bedroom and the breakfast was good although very limited. The location was good for our purposes.
Did not like the bar. It was more like a working man's club and was being used by the younger locals. The cleanliness of the bar had a lot to be desired. There were no evening meals available.

It was convenient for us visiting family.
The selection for breakfast was very limited, my partner does not eat a cooked breakfast.

Location was excellent for our needs. Breakfast was good.
Room was very basic and not as presented on the website. No headboard, poor quality towels, no mirror in bedroom, no protective cover on mattress, toilet function was inadequate [refilling of cistern took ages], sink emptying was virtually impossible [plug would not lift], staff were very poorly presented - not clean and fresh giving a poor first image of the hotel.

Good sized comfortable room; the breakfast was quite good, and the young woman who served us was very friendly.
The 'welcome' was unfriendly and cursory... "here's your key, you're in number 5. Breakfast is 9 to 10". It would be good if there was some shower gel or soap in the en-suite, and perhaps a shortbread with the coffee/tea? Little things make you want to go back.
